Thrombosed haemorrhoids

Thrombosed haemorrhoids

  • Thrombosed haemorrhoids /golden vein/ occur when a blood clot forms on the outer golden vein and prevents the blood from draining.
  • It is manifested by sudden pain and the formation of a nodule in the anus 1–2 cm in diameter, also multiple nodules may form.
  • When ignoring the painful nodule, more massive bleeding with the drainage of clotted blood may appear on Day 3–4 from its formation. In some patients, the nodule may die or sometimes inflammation of the rectum occurs.
  • With recurrent inflammations and thrombotisations of external haemorrhoids, swellings and rectal prolapse occur, which aggravate the discomfort.
  • Early diagnosis and treatment of external and especially internal haemorrhoids will prevent the development of complications
  • In the case of thrombotisation, we can solve the problem and remove the nodule painlessly during the early visit within 3–5 days of thrombotisation.
