Haemorrhoids – all stages of the golden vein

Haemorrhoids are the second most common disease of the rectum, with more than 50% of patients over the age of 50 having some form of this condition. 70% of patients who have varicose veins on lower limbs or some form of chronic venous disease also suffer from haemorrhoids.

The haemorrhoid /golden vein/ is actually a tissue with nerves and with a bulged vein under the mucous membrane in the area of the mucous membrane of the anal canal. Therefore, in the treatment, mainly the feeding vessel should be treated to prevent recurrences.

Symptoms

• bleeding after bowel movement
• itching
• burning
• protrusion of haemorrhoids from the anus
• mucus in the stool
• also swelling, suppuration, inflammation, heavy bleeding and severe pain in case of complications

Classification by location

Internal haemorrhoids – are located in the area of the linea dentata at the depth of about 4–5 cm from the anus. They are manifested by bleeding. They are usually not painful. Pain occurs due to their thrombotisation and bulging-prolapse. 

External haemorrhoids – are visible around the anus, forming small, soft, blue nodules. They are not painful unless they are inflamed. Sudden blockage of inflamed veins by a blood clot can occur, causing sudden stabbing pain – referred to as thrombotisation

We try to treat them in a conservative manner:

• Dietary measures
• Venotonics
• Special ointments and tonics that act at the cellular level and heal the damaged vein in the rectum

• Barron's ligation – rubber band ligation (golden vein surgery) is rarely performed due to the high recurrence rate 
• Surgical treatment of the golden vein according to Parks
• RFA – Rafaelo – radiofrequency coagulation of the golden vein
