Chronic venous disease (CVD) is characterised by the appearance of varicose veins in the lower limbs with the following symptoms: pain, swelling, tired and restless legs, tingling, night cramps, bruising, pigmentation and leg ulcer (ulcus cruris).
Varices (varicose veins) are nodular or tubular dilatations of the veins in the lower limbs. Varicose veins are classified according to their lumen as follows: trunk /7–8 mm/, collateral /3–8 mm/, perforating /3–8 mm/, reticular /2–4 mm/ and spider /0–2 mm/
C1 clinical stage according to the CEAP classification is a spider varicose, and C6 clinical stage is an active leg ulcer (ulcus cruris).
TThe stage of your chronic venous disease is determined during the initial Doppler ultrasound examination with detailed mapping of the veins of the lower limbs on the basis of which the treatment is specified. The basis of CVD treatment is prevention:
& vein therapy gymnastics
& taking venotonics based on micronised diosmin – especially during the summer season
& reduction of varicose veins by procedures specified during the initial examination
& annual follow-ups where we take mapping pictures and perform follow-up ultrasound examination.
Spider veins are also known as telangiectasia, venectasia, or thread veins. Spider veins are small, dilated blood vessels near the surface of the skin that often occur in areas such as the legs and calves.
